EACH OF THE WINNING  ARTIST WILL BE AWARDED OF A SCHOLARSHIPS CONSINTING IN A SCHOLARSHIP OF 10.000 EUROS, FREE ATTENDANCE TO THE PREPARATORY  COURSE ,LEADING TO THE

DEBUT DURING THE 2019's EXPERIMENTAL OPERA SEASON

 

 

As for the Winning Artist, Placed in the FIRST PLACE, a summ of 15.000.00 euros WILL BE AWARDED in accordance with

Art. 7, Italian Law n. 93/92 by NUOVO IMAIE

For the 73rd “European Community” Competition a NEW PRIZE for the Winner Artist, in the first place,  by Nuovo Imaie (Nuovo Istituto Mutualistico Artisti Interpreti ed Esecutori is a collecting society dealing with the performer’s neighboring rights). 15.000,00 € distributed in accordance with the specific conditions presented in the Notice of applications of the Competition. The Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto “A. Belli” under the aegis of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Department of live Performance, Regione Umbria,  under the patronage of the European Commission, presents the 73rd edition of the

 

 

“EUROPEAN COMMUNITY”

COMPETITION FOR YOUNG OPERA SINGERS 2019

                                                                                          

 

a) The Competition is open to all young artists who, on January 1st, 2019 will be under 32 years of age, if sopranos and tenors, or under 34 years of age if mezzo-sopranos, contraltos, baritones and basses; Legal requirements: they must be citizens of one of the European Union (EU)Countries , or coming from one of the EFTA Countries, or citizens of one of the Countries candidate to enter in the European Union, or from those potential candidates  Countries which can apply to European cultural programs (Creative Europe) by .October 30th, 2018:

- Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland;

- Albania, Republic of Macedonia,(former Republic of Yugoslavia) Iceland,

Montenegro, Serbia, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, Tunisia and Kosovo (under UN Security Council Resolution No. 1244).

The International Jury will be presided over by the Internationally renowned Mezzosoprano Sonia Ganassi, winner of the 1990 Competition in Spoleto with Il Barbiere di Siviglia and now she is having an intense activity with the main international theatres. Among the jury, there will also be M° Michelangelo Zurletti, Artistic Director of Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto and other Scholars among singers, vocal coaches, critics and Thespian promoters chosen by the Institution, as per the art. n 5. of the competition Announcement.

 

The competition winning candidates will be admitted to attend a two-years  COURSE OF STUDIES , lasting 5 months each year, with the purpose to prepare them for their debut. Among the teachers of the Debut Preparatory Course 2019, there will be: Sonia Ganassi among the main teachers for vocal interpretation; Director Giorgio Bongiovanni; Maestri Raffaele Cortesi, Enza Ferrari and Marco Angius for scores study. There will be also imparted lessons on theory and scores, current legislation on live stage performances and music and stage movement. There will be a module on Artists' welfare and RIGHTS.

The winners of the competition will be awarded of a monthly SCHOLARSHIPS gross worth monthly Euros 700,00. At the end of the course, the winners will debut in the 2019 edition OPERA SEASON usually hold in September.

 

 

 

The 2019 edition of the competition “European Community” for young Opera singers, has been funded with a contribution of a settlement fund by “Nuovo Imaie” in accordance with art. N. 7, Italian law n. 93/92- musical area, in favour of the winning artist who will achieve the higher score according to the criteria established by this competition announcement.

 

No registration fee on 2019

 

Applications should be sent to Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "A. Belli", Piazza G. Bovio 1, 06049 Spoleto (PG) or via email to segreteria@tls-belli.itsegreteria.artistica@tls-belli.it by February 21st 2019. The competition will take place at the Teatro Nuovo in Spoleto from the 6th to the 9th March 2019.

The Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto was founded in 1947 by Adriano Belli, with the aim of helping young Opera Singers starting a career , especially all those artists who had already completed their singing studies and were gifted with artistic qualities, but had not made their artistic debut yet. All of this has been possible thank to this very competition that has become increasingly prestigious through the years. Many excellent Artists on the International Opera stages have won the competition at the “Sperimentale”; They studied in Spoleto and consequently debuted during the Institution Opera Seasons. Here some of the illustrious names from the past years : Franco Corelli, Antonietta Stella, Anita Cerquetti, Giangiacomo Guelfi, Anna Moffo, Marcella Pobbe, Rolando Panerai, Margherita Rinaldi, Giorgio Merighi, Leo Nucci, Ruggero Raimondi, Renato Bruson, Mietta Seghele, Veriano Lucchetti, Salvatore Fisichella and then Luciana D’Intino, Mariella Devia, Lucia Aliberti; Marcello Giordani, Natale De Carolis, Elizabeth Norberg Schulz, Roberto Frontali, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Roberto De Candia, Sonia Ganassi. Daniela Barcellona, Massimo Giordano, Norma Fantini, Micaela Carosi. Lately have been involved as music teachers or vocal coaches: Enza Ferrari, Giovanna Canetti, Ruggero Raimondi, Renato Bruson, Norma Fantini, Sonia Ganassi, Luis Alva, Ines Salazar. Special mention for their specific training courses.
