Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto “A. Belli” announces 76th edition of
“EUROPEAN COMMUNITY” COMPETITION
FOR YOUNG LYRIC SINGERS 2022
It’s allowed for young men & women that are not yet 32 years old on January 1st, 2022 to participate whether sopranos and tenors and that are not yet 34 years old whether midsopranos, contraltos, baritones and basses. They must be citizens of Countries of European Union, Member Countries of EFTA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland). They also may be citizens of Member Countries candidates to enter the EU or potential candidates to enter the EU and Countries that participate to European cultural program such as “Creative Europe” until 03.02.2021 (Albania, North Macedonia Republic, Montenegro, United Kingdom, Serbia Republic, Armenia, Tunisia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine and Kosovo according to UN Security Council resolution n. 1244).
President of the Jury will be the excellent baritone Renato Bruson. Experts of the field will therefore compose the Jury: Luciana Serra, Giuseppe Filianoti, Giancarlo Landini and representatives of Artistic Direction of the Institution, according to Art. 5 of the Notice of the Competition, M° Michelangelo Zurletti, musicologist and music critic and Enrico Girardi music critic of Corriere della Sera and Professor at Catholic University of Sacred Heart of Milan.
Winners of the competition (all those who received minimum grades of 8/10) are about to participate to a two years STUDY COURSE that last five months that prepared them to debut in theatre. Among main teachers of the Preparatory Course for Debut 2022, we recall, for vocal interpretation Renato Bruson and Marina Comparato, for acting Giorgio Bongiovanni e Andrea Stanisci, for piano scores studies Raffaele Cortesi and Enza Ferrari.
In addition, there will be lessons of legislation of music and performance and a module of speech therapy. Individual SCOLARSHIPS of € 700, 00 monthly gross for three months and a contract of artistic writing that lasts two months a year of € 1.450. At the end of the course winners will debut in 2022 OPERA SEASON of “Sperimentale” that will be held in September as always
The course and articulation of the Competition, of free audition, of exams, of educational exercises, of live shows, of Preparatory Course for Debut and of Stagione Lirica Sperimentale of Spoleto and of Umbria, are subject to disposals. They will be in force when Competition, Stagione Lirica and other activities up mentioned will start. According to what competent Authorities of the Italian Republic release.
Special Prize of Teatro Lirico Sperimentale has been estaslished in 2022 for first three winners, according to the score given by the jury. The contribution will be paid out according to the terms in art. 10 of the notice of Competition.

Bovio 1, 06049 Spoleto (PG) not later than February 16, 2022. Competition, that will be placed at Teatro Caio Melisso of Spoleto, will be held from March 2nd to 5th . For singers who pass age limits forseen by the competition notice and for citizens from Countries not included by art. 1 of Notice, will be held on March 6th and 7th of free auditions tied to Competition of Canto.
