AUDITIONS FOR ALBANIANS AND BALKANIANS YOUNG OPERA SINGERS

ON FEBRUARY 17^TH AND 18^TH 2023 at the University of  Arts in Tirana

Deadline for the application February 7^th 2023

Spoleto, 13 gennaio 2023 – The BALKANIKOPERA^© auditions are the result of the collaboration between the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto “A. Belli”, the University of Arts of Tirana, the Association Syri Blue of Tirana, the Association Occhio Blu – Anna Cerini Bova of Rome and with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana. An important project that allows young Albanian and Balkan opera singers to put themselves to test in front of a Commission of experts. The Auditions will take place on February 17^th and 18^th 2023 at the University of Arts in Tirana, and the three eligible singers will have the opportunity to fly to Italy from Tirana for free – thanks to the financial contribution of a patron supporter of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale – to participate in the 77th “European Community” competition for young opera singers.

The BALKANIKOPERA^© Auditions are open to all young people who on 1st January 2023 are under 32 years of age for sopranos and tenors, or 34 years of age for mezzo-sopranos, contraltos, baritones and basses, providing that they are citizens of the Countries of the European Union (EU), or of the EFTA Countries or citizens of the Countries candidate to accede to the European Union, potential candidates or Countries which can apply to European cultural programmes (Creative Europe) at the date 15.05.2022:

– Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland;

– Albania, Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Tunisia, Armenia and Kosovo (under UN Security Council Resolution No. 1244), Turkey, Israel and Palestine;

The auditions in Tirana will take place on February 17^th and 18^th 2023 at the University of Arts in Tirana, Square Nënë Teresa.

The application deadline is on February , Tuesday 7^th  2023.

In the application, the candidate must specify the name, surname, address, entry register and citizenship. The application must be accompanied by the following documents:

1. a) A photocopy of the valid passport or identity card.
2. b) Photocopy of the certificate issued by a Conservatory, High School or Music School certifying the studies.

If the studies have been completed at a private music school or private teacher, the Director or the teacher, under his responsibility, will have to issue a declaration of maturity and suitability of the student.

The “European Community” Competition’s winners will attend the 2023 and 2024 five-month Preparatory Courses finalized to the representations of the Opera Season 2023 and 2024.

The didactic activities provide masterclasses of vocal interpretation with Renato Bruson, Marina Comparato, Carmela Remigio and Roberto De Candia, for the acting module Giorgio Bongiovanni and Andrea Stanisci, for the study of opera scores Marco Boemi and Raffaele Cortesi. There will be also a training module of music and performances legislation and a phoniatrics module. 

The winners of the Competition will be also awarded the annual total amount of Euros 5.000,00 gross in 2022 and in 2023. This annual sum will be divided into three Euros 700,00 monthly scholarships. The winners will also benefit from a two-month agreement of Euros 1.450,00 per month.

The first three winning singers, according to the marks given by the Jury, will receive for this Competition’s edition, in addition to the aforementioned scholarships, the Special prize of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of a total amount of Eur 10.000,00 as follows: First classed, Eur 5.000,00; Second classed, Eur 3.000,00; Third classed, Eur 2.000,00; as by art. 10 of the Notice of Competition.
